Remember when the only people who cared about the natural environment were tree huggers and hippies? Those days are over, and it appears we all comprehend our role in stopping and possibly reversing the damage being done to our planet. Unless everyone begins to start living much more eco-friendly we won’t be able to fix the problems of the environment. Each and every family must start making changes that are environmentally friendly and they have to do this soon. Here are a number of tips that can help you save energy, primarily by making your cooking area more green.

Let’s begin with something really easy, changing the particular light bulbs. Obviously you shouldn’t confine this to merely the cooking area. Compact fluorescent lightbulbs are generally energy-savers, and you must use them rather than incandescent lights. They cost a little bit more at first, but they last ten times longer, and use much less electricity. Making use of these types of longer-lasting lightbulbs has the particular benefit that many fewer lightbulbs make it into landfills. You also have to get the habit of turning off the lights when there is nobody in a place. The kitchen lights in particular are often left on all day long, just because the family tends to spend a lot of time there. This also happens in the rest of the house, but we have been trying to save money in the kitchen. Do an exercise if you like; have a look at the amount of electricity you can save by turning the lights off when you don’t need them.

The kitchen on its own provides you with many small methods by which energy and money can be saved. Green living just isn’t that tough. It’s about being functional, most of the time.

  2. Add enough ice to Step 1 so that it reaches 200 ml, and cool it. (If eating immediately, transfer to a large bowl so adding the remaining 3 cups of water is easier.)
  3. Use parchment paper to remove the scum that has formed on the surface. The soup base is now done.
  4. You can chill the soup base from Step 3, separately or with the remaining 3 cups of water added, in the refrigerator. If adding the water later, refrigerate it as well.
  5. Boil the noodles. Place into a sieve after boiling, cool down under running water, and strain the water out again.
  6. Add the soup and your favorite ingredients to a bowl, and you're done.
  7. If you're eating it right away, prepare the soup base in a bowl, add in the remaining 3 cups of water (ice water).
  8. When eating right away (continued): If you don't have ice water, mix 1 cup of water with 1 cup of ice and add this to the soup.
  9. It might be difficult to remove the surface oil. Using another sheet of parchment paper is a waste! Please use a ladle to scoop out the remaining scum.
